It’s that time of the year. Yes, finals week, but also that point in time where the summer light at the end of the tunnel begins to shine, or at least gleam a teeny bit. After a long week of finals, the relief of knowing you have three months off of school is satisfying to even the most fervent Notre Dame adorer. While leaving our home under the dome feels bittersweet, listening this playlist as you leave campus can alleviate a little bit of that pain and can set the tone for the lovely trip home.
“I’m Coming Home” by P. Diddy feat. Skylar Grey
If you want to feel like you’re in some sort of TV show, gazing out the window of your car as you drive away from Notre Dame really dramatizes the scene.
“Give Me Back My Hometown” by Eric Church
Just go ahead and skip over this one if you don’t like country music, but trust me, this song brings about some serious nostalgia.
“Who Says You Can’t Go Home” by Bon Jovi feat. Jennifer Nettles
I know we all love “Livin’ on a Prayer,” but this Bon Jovi song applies more to going home for the summer.
“Back Home” by Andy Grammar
For a more upbeat song, plus Andy Grammar’s usual charm, “Back Home” should do the trick.
“Don’t Forget Where You Belong” by One Direction
I’m not a huge fan of One Direction, but this song perfectly rides the line between cheesy and sentimental, making it a must for this playlist.
“Home” by Daughtry
Throwback to when everyone still watched American Idol, amiright? Still a good song though.
“Country Roads” by John Denver
I’m super biased because I was born in West Virginia, but you know this song is still a classic, so you should def listen to it.
“Home” by Michael Bublé
Yes, you can listen to Michael Buble outside of the Christmas season, and you should listen to this song on your way home, particularly if you’ve been feeling homesick.
“Homeward bound/Home” by the Glee Cast
Who doesn’t love a good mashup? Especially one that combines old soulful music and more modern sounding music.
“Home” by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros
This song just makes you feel good. It would really set the mood playing as you turn the last corner onto your street.
Safe travels!
