If you could be any person for a day, who would you be? Why?Â
Peak 1970’s Burt Reynolds. Have you seen Smokey and the Bandit?
What do you do in your free time?
Antiquing downtown, cycling at Gowdy, or cracking open a Steinbeck
Favorite TV show?
Longmire. People think it’s a show for retired folks, but it has a killer plot, strong leads, and showcases life in Wyoming without poking fun.
Do you want to stay in Wyoming?
Maybe, ask me in a year!
Why did you choose your major?
I’ve always preferred words to numbers, and poems to problems. English is a field without any borders. It’s versatile enough to land a job in just about any line of work I can see myself doing after my time here in Wyo.
Why did you come to UW?
I was lured in by the mountains and sold by the relentless smiles. Never have I met people with more kindness and generosity than here in little Laramie.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
Somewhere a touch bigger. Maybe somewhere in the Pacific Northwest or back in Europe. But, I definitely wouldn’t mind spending some more quality time in the West before I emigrate.
Where did you travel when you studied abroad?
When I took a semester in London, I also made the trek to Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Scotland, and Wales. I’ve spent time in Germany, Italy, Kenya, Panama, and Switzerland as well.
What city has been your favorite to travel to?
A city that stood out against all others was Cardiff, Wales. The people were nearly as nice as Wyomingites and the city itself was full of green parks and endless museums. My first evening in town I met a retired boxer that had been a bit of a big deal in his own time. He gave me a quick tour of the main attractions before we started hopping pubs till midnight. Â
If you could go anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?
Even though I’ve been across the Atlantic, I haven’t stopped in NYC yet. After reading dozens of books set in New York, I’m ready to take a bite of the Apple.
Parks and Rec or The Office?
Regardless of my relationship status, my heart will forever belong to Andy Dwyer.
Happy Jack or Vedauwoo?
Can I say both?
What are you looking most forward to this semester?
Having more time to spend on my bikes when warm days come for more than two days at a time.
