Northeastern’s 2016 Undergraduate Commencement ceremony is Friday, May 6th. For graduating Huskies, this day is approaching too quickly, but also not soon enough. Lizzie & the gang know how you feel.
By mid-March you’ve adopted a summer mindset (even if mother nature hasn’t).
You know you’re going to graduate, so does schoolwork really matter at this point?
But, as much as you want to succumb to senioritis, you somehow end up being the biggest contributor to that pesky group project.
Why is the senior the one who seems to care the most about the outcome of this assignment?!
Since you’re now at the top of the college food chain, you tend to be (just a little) patronizing to underclassmen… even when they’re the same age as you.
But they totally deserve it when you’re the one doing all the work for that group project.
If you’re graduating in four years, you start to feel jealous of all your friends in five-year programs who still have one more year together.
Please don’t forget me!
And if you’re graduating in five years, you finally get to catch up to all of your high school friends who’ve been college grads for a full year already.
Hooray for not being the only friend still in college!
Even though you still have remaining tuition bills and student loans to pay, you’ve already received dozens of emails and calls from the university asking for donations.
Haven’t we paid this school enough in blood, sweat, and tears already?
You go crazy applying to jobs, juggling class with interviews, and dealing with your family’s onslaught of questions about your future.
No comment until the end of April.
Once you do land a job, you have to start thinking about all that adult stuff, like health insurance and 401Ks.
Why didn’t they teach us any of that stuff in school?!
You pig out on all of your favorite campus foods, just in case you never have the chance to eat them again.
I want my Hungry Hungry Husky mac and cheese!
Once Springfest ends, you realize you may never have the opportunity to go to as many cool (and free) events as you did at NEU.
Although let’s be honest: you probably should have skipped that AfterHours Aaron Carter concert… that was weird.
Knowing this finals week will be your last doesn’t make it any less of a struggle.
But it does make the payoff so much sweeter.
You dread that painfully long graduation ceremony.
But you’re still counting down the days until Huskies swarm the Garden.
Once you finally get that diploma, reality sets in.
You’re out in the “real world” now.
But, as much as you’ll miss Northeastern and your friends, nothing can ruin that pure thrill of saying farewell to homework.
Goodbye forever! (Or at least until grad school.)
