Pop princess Selena Gomez is returning to television, but this time she’s behind the camera as the executive producer of an upcoming Lifetime series based on her life. The series is yet to be titled but will be a scripted drama documenting Gomez’s rise to stardom.
The 23-year-old, though now more commonly known for her chart-topping music, is no stranger to television. In fact, one of her first on-screen roles was in Barney & Friends, which aired in the early 2000s and featured a fresh-faced Gomez and former BFF, Demi Lovato. Gomez later landed her breakthrough role as Alex in Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, and the rest is Disney-starlet history.
Gomez will collaborate on the Lifetime series with some real greats, including Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey, who now plays the lead in Netflix’s House of Cards, and two-time Oscar nominee Dana Brunetti, who produced The Social Network.
As of now, Lifetime has not revealed who will play the lead role. But we couldn’t be more excited to see this all come together.
