What is your role in “How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying”? Can you talk a little bit about it?Â
I am playing Miss. Krumholtz, [a] secretary in the office that works for many people such as Mr. Gatch and Mr. Finch.
What are you most excited about for opening night?Â
I’m super excited for all the show to be put together with costumes, sound and lights. Also just to perform in front of a lot of people!
Have you always been interested in theater? What’s your journey been to the Cabrini stage?Â
I loved theater ever since freshman year of high school! I started out performing at a nearby library doing one-act plays for four years. Later, I took basic theater, advanced theater and Broadway musical theater in school. Senior year I finally made it into my first play as a bride in Dracula. I didn’t make the musical in the spring so I did costumes, but I knew I couldn’t give up. So I tried out for the fall production “You Can’t Take It With You” at Cabrini and made it as Olga Katrina Duchess of Russia. I was so proud to make it into a college play! When I got into the musical this spring I felt very proud and more confident in myself. The fact that I never gave up makes me more proud and that’s what I tell others: don’t let one audition hold you back, keep going!
What’s the most challenging part of being involved in theater?Â
Hmm, the most challenging would have to be for some people learning accents, memorizing many lines, projecting, hitting the right notes and remembering all the blocking.
And the most fun?Â
The most fun is being a whole different character, singing, the cast and just being a part of a really fun production.
Personally, what’s the best part about being an actor, especially one that performs live?
The best part is just standing out and doing something you love in front of other people. Also just hearing the noise of applause for you, that’s the best feeling in the world!
Who are your biggest influences?Â
My biggest influence is my mom because she always inspires me to work hard and to always achieve my dreams.
If you could play any role in musical history, who would it be? Why?Â
If I could be any role I would play Eponine from Les Miserables because I love her character and her voice. She’s also very strong and independent!
What advice would you give to anyone who wants to become involved in theater?Â
To always be on top of things. You are not nervous, you’re just excited; smile and have fun!
