This week’s Her Campus profile is the beautiful and talented, Arthi Bharadwaj. Not only is she outgoing, academic and well rounded, but she and her dance team, Michigan Manzil, just made it to Bollywood America, the nation-wide competition for the Bollywood fusion circuit. This will be the first time Michigan Manzil has ever made it to the national competition. Keep reading to learn more!

Her Campus: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Arthi Bharadwaj: As a practicing doctor, either an OBGYN or a pediatrician.
HC: What are you involved in on campus?
AB: Michigan Manzil, Promoting Healthcare Through Dance, Volunteering at C.S. Mott Hospital, Indian American Student Association, and Medical Educational Student Opportunities.
HC: What is Michigan Manzil?
AB: Michigan Manzil is a co-ed Bollywood fusion competitive dance team. We mix Bollywood songs with popular American songs, and we compete in a circuit against teams from other colleges. The ultimate goal of the team was to make it to the national competition, Bollywood America.
HC: How did your team make it to Bollywood America?
AB: On average, we practiced about 16 hours a week. We succeed because all of us have the same goal, which is to do our best, to put on a great performance for the audience and to enjoy the entire process, as a team. When we work hard, it’s for a bigger reason that just the audience, it’s for each other as well. It’s a very fulfilling experience.
HC: Why is Michigan Manzil important to you?
AB: For me, dance has always been important. I’ve been dancing my entire life. When I first came to campus, I wanted to find a team that allowed me to express myself through both my Indian and American roots. I get the best of both worlds through Michigan Manzil.
