The trailer for the next, long overdue addition to the Bridget Jones’s Diary film series was released yesterday, and we’re happy to say that our expectations have been fulfilled! If you haven’t watched Bridget Jones’s Diary or Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason yet (although you’ve had a while), you definitely need to treat yourself to a night in catching up on the movies, which follow a ridiculously relatable woman, portrayed by Renee Zellweger.
This movie, which is coming out more than 10 years after the previous films were released, continues the saga of Bridget Jones and her forever-single life. Fortunately for us, her character has managed to remain unlucky, struggling very much to “have it all.” She’s gotten an impressive producing job but still continues to awkwardly run into exes and embarass herself, as most of us understand from rather similar personal experiences.
The biggest change in Bridget’s life since we last saw her is that (surprise!) she’s having a baby, and (surprise again!) she’s not totally sure who the father is. Lucky for her, it’s definitely Colin Firth or Patrick Dempsey, so either way it’s a pretty decent turnout. This plotline is balancing staying true to the character we know and love while modernizing what’s going on around her. And we have to say that, based on the trailer, the film has done just that!
