10 Best Healthy Drunk Foods for Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

You’ve been on the beach all day, stumble back to your room, open up the fridge and see that it’s empty. If you don’t stock your cupboards with some type of groceries, there’s a good chance that you won’t make it back alive to tell stories of your epic spring break. You’re on the go, lazy, broke, and most likely somewhat intoxicated. Here are some of your best options for foods to have on hand to satisfy your drunk cravings and get you back onto the beach before sunset.

1.) Whole Wheat Bread

Just waking up? Toast it and add some peanut butter. Heading to bed? Remember to chew and pair with water. Morning you will appreciate it.

2.) Eggs

“Hey guys, wait for me! I just have to defrost and grill my chicken quick,” said no spring breaker ever. Eggs can be prepared countless ways any time of the day, making them your best option for a protein source other than your “one pork chop in every beer”.

3.) Oatmeal

This power food is key to survival. It is going to make you feel full for a longer period of time, ensuring that you don’t turn into the hangry friend when no one else is quite ready to leave the party!

4.) Milk and Cereal

Anyone else finish the cereal before the milk, so you add more cereal… but then you run out of milk… and before you know it, someone stole your entire box of Cheerios. I would play it safe and buy two boxes.

5.) Fruits and Veggies

I’m not talking about limes with your tequila or a celery stick in your Bloody Mary. Having some yummy produce options is going to keep you feeling fresh and alert!

6.) Chips and Salsa

It’s not a vacation until you and your friends pair a marg with some chips and salsa to set the mood!

7.) Tortillas and Shredded Cheese

Turn on stove top (please use caution and/or a sober friend), lay tortilla on pan, cover in cheese, top with another tortilla and you’ve got yourself a quesadilla! If you’re feeling fancy add pizza sauce and pepperoni to turn your creation into a pizzadilla!

8.) Grab-and-Go Snacks

Pretzel Chips, Smartfood Popcorn, Sunchips, granola, jerky, crackers, cheese sticks, the works! Anything so save your right arm when you’re running on empty and have no other option but to convert to cannibalism.

9.) Fudge Pops or Low-Fat Ice Cream

The weather is going to be hot (hopefully) and you’re going to have a sweet craving (definitely). Just be sure to keep this one a secret from the roomies or you’ll be sharing your chocolate treats!

10.) Water

It’s going to be a long week, kids. Mix some water in your fun.
