Finding the motivation to work out is never easy, but luckily I’ve discovered a type of work out that is fun and effective. Students at USC have the option to pay twenty dollars for a “Group X” pass that gives you access to all the fitness classes that Strom and Blatt have to offer.
I strongly recommend spending the extra twenty bucks because it will pay off! I’ve recently formed a slight obsession with Zumba. Strom offers Zumba classes almost every single day and it really is the most fun I’ve had working out. Zumba is a high intensity type of dancing and instructors teach multiple dances to popular songs.
Lauren McQueen, a sophomore at USC, explains why she loves Zumba: “It’s a great workout, not just because of the dancing but because I get to spend an hour laughing my ass off at my friends who look like limp spaghetti trying to keep up with the instructor.”
She couldn’t be more accurate. Although we aren’t all gifted with the ability to move our hips like Shakira, it’s hilarious to watch ourselves try. The key to Zumba is to go all out, laugh about it, and have fun while burning calories.
If Zumba doesn’t sound like your thing, there are lots of other classes the group pass includes. Cycling and Body Pump are other popular ones, along with Barre Works, TRX, and so much more. Katie Kendall, a sophomore at USC, loves taking advantage of the Group Class pass.
“It’s a great way to get motivated to exercise when you can have fun with it and bring a gym buddy along to try a multitude of different class options. Especially because spring break is right around the corner!” she said.
