February 28th is also known as National Public Sleeping Day! While some of us may consider every day a celebration of this glorious holiday, the more conservative of us may use this day as an excuse to lay down just about anywhere and fall asleep for a few minutes (or a few hours) without the fear of being scrutinized. To celebrate this very important day, we have located the best spots for each type of napper to take a quick snooze on campus.
For the library goer: The reading room in O’Neill library.
While there are many appealing spots in the library, the reading room takes the cake as a hot spot for napping. With its comfortable booths and quiet atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for a peaceful study-break snooze.
For the nature lover: The grassy area in front of Higgins.
Many would consider Stokes Lawn the go-to spot for an outdoor nap, but the grassy hill between Higgins and Fulton is incredibly underrated. With less foot traffic than Stokes Lawn, this is a much quieter, peaceful space to check out for a while and celebrate your freedom to publicly sleep.
For the foodie: The couches in Hillside.
Everyone knows that food and sleep go hand in hand. Fill up with a delicious meal from Hillside and cozy up on the couches for a quick food-coma-style nap.
For the fitness fanatic: The floor of the plex.
Exercise is exhausting. Luckily, the plex provides mats that are perfect for laying. If the noise of machines doesn’t bother you, this makes for the perfect spot for a rest.
For the intellectual: The benches in the quad.
Something about sitting on a bench and pondering life makes us feel like true philosophers. The benches in the quad are a great space to enjoy the outdoors and take some time for some peaceful self-reflection. All of that deep thought is tiring, making these benches a great place to sleep. Â
These are our favorite places to publicly sleep on campus, but if you use your imagination, anywhere can transform into a great place to take a nap. Get out there today and exercise your freedom to celebrate National Public Sleeping Day!Â
