5 Movies to Watch for a Good Cry

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Get ready to bring out your best ugly cry. Whether it’s a gloomy day or you just need a good, hardy sob, these movies will deliver the proper waterworks to fit your needs.

1. The Fault in Our Stars

This movie (and book) can be found in any list for a good cry. It’s an emotional roller coaster that just goes up.

2. Marley & Me

Because the love for an animal goes a long way. If you don’t shed a tear watching this movie, you might actually have no feelings.

3. My Girl

The people we choose to become close to in our lives create bonds that become unbroken. It’s the little things about each other is what is remembered.

4. Life is Beautiful

This is a very eye-opening movie of a family in a concentration camp. It shows the length a father will go to keep his son optimistic.

5. One Day

This movie shows how much changes between two people over the course of 18 years. You get invested in their lives as the movie progresses and it’s hard not to get emotionally attached to them.
