Everyone seems to think that having a boyfriend during your college years is a huge mistake, which you will regret and it will end terribly. Of course, there are some relationships that will fall under turmoil, but I am here to tell you that’s not always the case. In fact, I know many couples that find themselves pretty lucky to be in the relationship they are in, myself included. So, I’m here to clear up some of these misconceptions and defend these super awesome long-distance couples.
Â
1.    Distance will kill you.
People think that because you are in a long- distance relationship, it is just too hard to handle. It is hard, but it really doesn’t have to be. You know what they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. It’s always the best meeting up with your significant other after some time apart, it makes the reunion that much greater.
Â
2.    Communicating effectively is impossible.
FALSE. Especially in a long distance relationship communication is key. Since you aren’t spending a lot of time together face-to-face, your communication skills better be on point. It’s so nice to be able to hear from someone supporting you constantly, even from afar, and knowing they have your back.
Â
3.    Say goodbye to your social life.
People believe that they won’t get the full college experience because they have a significant other holding them back. If you trust your S/O, let them do their thing. Everyone wants to have a good time with their friends when they’re in college; there should really be no issue here. Party on, party people!  I’m just trying to get my dance on.
Â
4.    Cheating is inevitable.
If you’re anything like my roommate, you’re the girl who texts her boyfriend 277x when you know he’s going to the bars that night. You are literally blowing his phone up. STOP THAT! You guys love each other, he’s not cheating, and you’re in your own head. If you trust each other completely, these thoughts shouldn’t be considered.
