Sophomore Survival Tips
1. Sophomores need to declare a concentration by Friday, February 12th at 4pm.
Before this deadline, you should:
· Make a pro/con list of any concentration that you are considering.
· Fill out the sophomore advising form at http://my.hamilton.edu/dof/advising/sophomore-evaluation.
· Email your current advisor to schedule an appointment.
· Think about who you would like to have as a new advisor from your concentration department.
2. Consider Off-Campus Study!
If you are planning on studying abroad for a semester or the full year next year:
· Call the Office of Off-Campus Study at 315-859-4022 and make an appointment with one of the advisors.
· Fill out the Academic Leave of Absence for Off-Campus Study form and have it signed by your advisor.
· Attend study abroad information sessions hosted by various programs at Hamilton.
· Ask Hamilton Juniors and Seniors about their abroad experiences.
· Have courses pre-approved by completing the Petition for Transferred Credit form.
3. When in doubt, talk to your advisor!
There are people all over campus who are here to help you. Take advantage of those resources and don’t hesitate to ask questions!
