It’s February. As girls, most of us associate the month with red roses, the color pink, and all of a sudden disliking the fact that you’re an independent woman that doesn’t need a man.Â
As a girl that’s been in love on Valentine’s Day and a girl that’s been bitter on Valentine’s Day, I find myself this year in happy-medium of forgetfulness. Until I started seeing chocolates on display and the color red popping up everywhere, I had almost forgotten what this month means to most people. I know I’m not the only single gal out there without a Valentine to drink two or three bottles of wine with, so here are a few things I care about more than Valentine’s Day that you should as well:Â
1. Food
If I’m being honest with myself, food is my Valentine. My only hope is that one day, my significant other thinks about me as many times a day as I think about food.Â
2. My roommates’ dishes in the sink.
Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about.Â
I love my roommates more than I love 97% of things in life. (Including food.) But that doesn’t mean that their dirty dishes don’t take up a negative area in my mind that plost their destruction.Â
3. Netflix and Chill
Mostly chill… if you catch my drift. But also, what show am I going to binge on for the next nine hours?
4. SCHOOL.
Sometimes you have an exam at 4pm on Maine Day, two projects due in one week, and 8am classes that feel like they’re starting earlier everyday.
We’re college students–if school doesn’t take up a majority of your thoughts, you’re either effortlessly smart and carefree, or legitimately too cool for school.
5. Spring BreakÂ
The end of February is followed by a two-week break that means the beach and booze for most of you lucky folks. (Or two weeks of hanging around the town of Orono, tearing up the deserted streets.)
Regardless of whether you’re single or not, I would be wiling to bet that most of you still think about these things before you think about February 14th. At the end of the day, that’s just what it is. Another day. (Except candy is incredibly cheap afterwards.)
