4 Quick and Easy Hairstyles

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

We’re almost at the halfway mark of the quarter, which means you’re almost already over it. Whether it’s going to class or giving up your free time to study or getting bundled up for the brutal weather, we’re all over something. The first thing that suffers when we’ve finally given up is usually our hair. As time goes on, it’s almost natural to put less and less work into those “effortless” curls (that, of course, take way too much effort). These quick hairstyles take only a few seconds to do, but don’t make you look as defeated as you may be.

1. Bun it

How can you deny the effectiveness of the good ‘ol topknot bun? You can literally throw it up in a matter of seconds and still manage to pull off a great style. This style also allows you to focus on class since it’ll be away from your face and less of a distraction. If you’ve grown tired of the topknot, try a mid or low bun. They have the same benefits as the topknot while giving you a different look. You can make it as messy or as neat as you’d like. You can also add extra touches such as a headband, or a pair of earrings, or a 90s style scrunchie.

2. Half & Half

This super cute hairstyle has been really popular lately, and for good reasons. It is both cute and very easy to accomplish! You simply separate your hair into a top half and a bottom half. The top half can be as big or as small as you’d like it to be. You can also choose to top it off with a little bun, or leave the ends out. The bottom half can be straight, curled or wavy. Either way, this style is easy enough to do, but cute enough to look like you tried harder than you actually did.

3. Cap it off

This may seem like the easiest way out, but that’s completely fine! Consider hats the Olivia Pope of hairstyles; they can easily handle whatever crisis may be sitting upon your head. A beanie is great for a laid back look. You can leave your hair out under and throw in a few curls or even a couple braids. A baseball cap is great for sporty looks. Again, you can leave your hair out or even put it up into a ponytail or low bun. Fedoras or floppy hats are options for a dressier and trendier look, and you can also wear less makeup since you can use the hat to cover most of your face.

4. Pull it Together

It is possible to be extremely experimental with braided hairstyles. For the sake of time, and lack of energy, sticking to classic styles is your best bet. You can quickly pull together a very loose French braid, or two pigtail braids. Take it a step further with a halo braid or a fishtail.

Whether you’ve given up on looking presentable for class, or you are just looking for some new styles to try out, you can’t go wrong with any of these versatile looks. Try them out and post a pic to your Instagram, Twitter, and/or Facebook with the hashtag #LoveYourself!
