Bye bye Manzi, hello IV! Moving out of university housing is a major stepping stone in any collegiate’s life. Although it’s exciting, it can also be a little worrisome. Luckily, we gauchoback. The following tips will make your transition from the dorm life to IV living a lot easier.
1) Ask questions: The cost of rent, laundry on or off site, utilities included? Etc.
2) Ask for a tour: It’s important to see the apartment for yourself. The last thing you want is a rundown living space.
3) Take a friend: Apartment hunting can be daunting on your own and taking a friend with you will add some comfort.
4) Use Facebook: Take advantage of UCSB group pages on Facebook. UCSB housing and roommate search are two examples.
5) Meet your potential housemates: If you’re moving in with a new group of people, it’s always a good idea to meet them before making any final decisions to move in.
