If anything good were to come out of a certain ex-Alaska governor’s recent endorsement of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, it would be Tina Fey’s return to Saturday Night Live as Sarah Palin. This past weekend, she joined the current cast for a one-skit cameo as the bubbly and slightly (okay majorly) off-kilter Tea Party representative.
The second word was out that Sarah Palin would be joining the Trump parade, we knew that the SNL alum and 30 Rock star wouldn’t be far behind. As expected, the result was nothing short of spectacular:
But probably the best part of the entire skit was how incredibly accurate Fey was in her portrayal. Consider the eerie comparison in these lines below:
Fey as Palin: “I’m here for all you teachers and teamsters, you farmers and charmers. Whether you’re a mom or two broke girls or three men and a baby, or a rock and roller, holy roller, pushing stroller, pro-bowler with an abscessed molar!”
What Palin actually said: “Looking around at all of you, you hardworking Iowa familes, you farm families and teachers and teamsters and cops and cooks. You rock and rollers and holy rollers!”
Not too far from the truth…and that’s what made the bit that much more gratifying—because Tina Fey didn’t even have to try that hard to parody Palin. She was already a parody of herself!
And as long as the Palin-Trump alliance continues, we hope Fey will be making many more visits to the show, because we truly cannot get enough of her.
