6 Stylish Ways to Stay Warm

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

It’s that time of year again; the time when everyone disappears under layers of puffy coats and high heels are retired for less icy times. However, a little snow and winter wind doesn’t have to derail your expression of style! Winter is the perfect time to showcase your unique look (and stay warm while doing it)!

1. The Perfect Coat.

When you’re bundled up against the frost, your coat is the main thing people see about your style. However, you can have the warmth without the bulkiness. Look for a lined coat, rather than a fully padded one (the softer the lining, the better). For added shape, try a coat with a tied belt in the front to show off your figure! Experiment with bright colors and fun patterns to really stand out!

2. The All-Day Sweater

So, what’s under that beautiful coat? How about a beautiful sweater? With the thick material, it’s wonderful for keeping you warm and they vary greatly in shape, pattern, and design. For a trendy look, try an oversized sweater paired with skinny jeans and boots! You’ll be warm, comfortable and adorable!

3. Leggings

For that perfect combination of style, comfort and warmth, pull on a pair of leggings to take you anywhere you need to go. The colors and pattern possibilities are endless. If you are looking for added warmth, try a thicker material or an active-wear legging.

4. The Stylish Snow Boot

Ladies, a little snow is no need to pull out the industrial boots with built-in ice picks (though the thought is tempting). And it is certainly no reason for you to give up on your shoe love for an entire season. Try to find boots that give you your desired stability and style! Remember to look for ridged tread and solid arch support, and you’ll be making the best footprints out there!

5. Gloves

Rule of thumb: unless they are wrapped around a steaming cup of hot chocolate, your fingers need protection from the cold, as well. Again, whether you prefer gloves or mittens, show your own personality through color, pattern and design. And the hot chocolate; don’t forget the hot chocolate!

6. Accessories

When it comes to pitting your accessories against the elements, the possibilities are as numerous as they are unique. If you’d like to keep your ears nice and warm, try a nice knit hat (though you might want to carry a hairbrush with you.) If not, earmuffs will keep you warm without messing up your locks. And don’t forget to wrap up your neck by wearing a scarf however you choose. If your coat is neutral, try a scarf with a pop of color to really make your complexion shine!

So, never let the cold get in the way of expressing who you are! With these tips you truly can stay warm and keep your fashion sense. The cold never bothered you anyway, right?

Stay classy, ladies!
