A young girl is expected to be fun, smart, beautiful, and charming in order to be considered perfect. It seems as if our chapter’s upcoming Co-Campus Correspondent, Krystal, has mastered all of the afro mentioned qualities. Beyond her glamorous looks that could cause a few envious stares, she has proved to be hardworking and has surpassed the wisdom expected of college girls. She even launched her website Flow-Rise (http://www.flow-rise.com), which is filled with good vibes and advice for all the ‘”Girl Bosses” out there. During our conversation, she shared her aspirations, what drives her to be the best, and why this semester will be the best yet for Her Campus GSU.

What would you say is your favorite quote in the world that keeps you going?
“The best revenge is massive success.” by Frank Sinatra.
So you’ve been with Her Campus GSU for going on a year now, but now as Campus Correspondent, what are your goals for the upcoming semester?
I really want Her Campus GSU to be a household name and make an impact on our campus. I think we can achieve so many wonderful things that can make us a big name and give us the platform to be really successful at Georgia State. Her Campus is something different, it’s not just a magazine, it’s empowerment for women and gives us all a voice. I truly think that men and women should be apart of the experience. I also just launched my own blog.
What about school wise?
I really want to achieve all A’s because this past semester has been challenging but I would really like to push myself to do my best and get the ultimate results.
How did you find out about Her Campus?
I had been basically looking for an organization that I felt really represented who I was and one day as I was walking through campus, I spotted this girl carrying pink flyers that caught my attention so out of curiosity, I strung along to see where she was posting it and that is how I found out about Her Campus. I just completely fell in love with it.
By how far you have come out of that spark of curiosity, what would you say has been your favorite moment so far with this organization?
I have really enjoyed building the bonds that I have with all of the members on the team and getting to know mostly every one on a personal level. I think that has really enhanced our team and made me appreciate the organization more. I definitely feel there are friendships that bloomed that will last for a lifetime, just based off of that one decision to join.
And now you have launched your website, what was your inspiration for that?
Strangely, I dreamt about having a site that served multiple purposes. Including blogging, featuring young talents and maybe even a store but when I woke up, I thought it was a stupid idea. It kept nagging me one day, so I realized it wasn’t just a silly dream but God telling me that it was supposed to manifest. I don’t really see anything that uplifts the crucial age group we’re in of being young adults. The weird phase after being a teenage where you’re grown but not like a full adult & there’s no real guidance for the massive growth we go through. I feel like by blogging my experiences, it can help other people. I’m not sure how far it’ll go but i’m going to put all my energy into it. We’re blessed to be blessings to others and that’s what I want to be.
Beyond Her Campus, what do you enjoy most about being at Georgia State?
I love the diversity because that’s crucial to have in order to be cultured. I love how it is in the heart of the city because it makes me feel at home, although I never lived in the city, it just feels like a little piece of me is here. The school pride is really phenomenal here, despite us winning or losing. I also appreciate how as Panthers we come together and bond at the most random moments. Going to the first Panther Prowl of this semester, they played this one song and every one was in arms just vibing and showing a community sense that I really adored. Georgia State isn’t like any other campus and I think that distinctive quality represents everything I am and hope to be.
Who do you admire the most?
Besides my parents, I really admire my cousin Ashaunna Ayaras, because for years she worked for free interning at record labels and despite people’s disapproval of this, she stuck with it which led her to being respected and successful in the marketing field in the music industry. She’s made her foot print and worked hard to build. It’s inspiring to know someone who has achieved so much and overcame great obstacles.
What’s on your bucket list?
Finding my true purpose, traveling to places I probably can’t spell, and raising a family (that’s really really cliché but it’s really important to me.)
What is one thing you cannot live without?
My loved ones are my everything and without that foundation, I wouldn’t be the young woman that I am today. Also, my spirituality is really a vital part of who I am.
How can a guy make your hotline bling?
I’m easily amused but not easily impressed, so a guy really has to go above and beyond to give me that special feeling. You have to adore me.
What is the best advice that anyone has ever given to you?
“Keep on being strong, unique, and standing your ground. Know your value and worth and never accept anything but the best.” – Mom and Dad (Woman and Man)
