Oh, those lovely Sundays where campus is overrun by bright-eyed high school seniors with their parents trying to figure out if this is where they would like to spend the next four years. To current students, this is a day where we feel as if we are animals in a zoo on display. Some of those parents are bold enough to walk up to you and ask you questions about the campus, and the seniors gawk as you walk by because they cannot believe that they will be in your shoes about a year. Here are some tips to try and make those perspective student days as normal for you as possible, because it’s Sunday and you have things to do!
1. Try to not venture out of your room until about noon. Most of the events happen in the morning, so this way there will be less people staring at you as you walk by.
2. When you do venture out, walk quickly and go straight to your destination.
3. This is a great opportunity to stay in the library until dinner! You will get your work done and avoid running into large tours. Plus, you will feel accomplished and can take the rest of the night off.
4. Do not even try to walk by Cintas center. Just don’t do it. That’s where all the major events take place and you’re bound to be caught into a question trap.
There is no way to completely avoid the inconvenience of these days all together, but if you follow these tips you should be able to slid by without much hassle.
If you do get caught by a prospective student, be as welcoming and helpful as possible – remember that was you not so long ago!
