As if “Hello” hasn’t been starring in enough holidays this year (remember SNL’s hilarious Thanksgiving skit?), Céline Dion proved that she is already completely owning 2016 by covering Adele’s hit song during her New Year’s Eve concert in Las Vegas. She kept the cover a surprise for her fans. “So tonight, if I may, I would like Adele to be a part of our New Year’s Eve,” she told the ecstatic audience. When the crowd went wild, she quickly assured everyone that Adele would not be joining her on stage: “So don’t panic, she’s not in the building.”
Dion found the smoothest way to introduce the song to the audience, too. “Do we need to change the battery in my microphone? It kind of lost it a bit,” the star said next, creating the perfect segue into her next performance. “Adele, hello? Hello?”
This isn’t the first time that Dion has worked an Adele song into her repertoire. In June 2012, Dion also sang a cover of “Rolling in the Deep.” When Céline Dion covers your songs regularly – that’s when you know you’ve made it. We think Dion’s cover of “Hello” is the perfect blend of her gorgeous voice and Adele’s powerhouse song. It’s guaranteed to give you goosebumps.
Although we’re still waiting for the day the dynamic duo performs together, Dion’s cover of Adele’s “Hello” was nothing short of incredible.
