Taylor Wingert is a sophomore who made her way to the University of Iowa from Waukee and is double majoring in Accounting and Finance. Taylor was born to be a Hawkeye because both her parents and brothers graduated from here. She is a hard working student who landed an internship in New York City for this summer. Let’s find out a little more about her down below!
What activities/groups are you involved in on campus?
I am involved in the Hawkinson Institute of Business Finance, Kappa Alpha Theta (social sorority), Delta Sigma Pi (professional business fraternity), Federal Open Market Reserve Competition and Dance Marathon.
What company are you interning with this summer?
I will be working as a Sophomore Investment Banking Analyst for J.P.Morgan in New York City, NY, this upcoming summer.
How did you get the interview with J.P.Morgan?
I received names of Hawkinson alumni who worked at J.P.Morgan and began reaching out to them in order to network and build relationships that would hopefully result in good recommendations.Â
How did the interview go for you? What types of questions were you asked during it?
I had 3 phone interview screenings and a Superday in New York, meaning I had 3 back-to-back interviews with the bank’s executives. The interviews were very intense. Half of the questions were behavior, half were technical questions regarding company valuation, and each interviewer threw in at least one brain teaser. (Ex. How many windows are in Seattle? ; Ex. If I have a 5 gallon bucket and a 3 gallon bucket, how do I get exactly 4 gallons of water in one bucket?)
What do you want to do in the future?
Investment Banking Full-Time Analyst
What skills will you gain from this internship?
Time Management, Financial Modeling, Professional Communication, Presentation Skills, Stress Management, Company Valuation Techniques, etc.
What are you most looking forward to for the internship?
I’m excited to be a part of the fast-paced learning curve that is involved when working on Wall Street. It will be a great way to gain industry experience while also learning a lot about the operation of an Investment Bank.
