Periods are unavoidable. We’ve tried pads, tampons, and even birth control to lighten our flows. At the end of the day, however, we still find ourselves throwing away perfectly good pairs of underwear because of leaking. Thankfully, a new company called THINX has created what they call “period underwear”, putting the days of ruined panties and embarrassing stains in the past.
How it Works:
According to their website, THINX underwear uses four types of protection against leakage
-
Moisture-wicking: “keeps you feeling dry even when you’ve had a spill”
-
Anti-microbial: “fights bacteria with an invisible silver treatment”
-
Absorbent: “holds up to two tampons’ worth of liquid, depending on the style”
-
Leak-resistant: “even your whitest white panties are safe”
Translation: they’re light, absorbent, and, unlike pads and tampons, you DON’T have to change them throughout the day (Cue the hallelujahs)!
Still not convinced? THINX has been featured in ELLE, Fast Company, Jezebel, and Time magazine, which recently named them one of the 25 Best Inventions of 2015.
Aside from working to eliminate the need for pads, tampons, and cups, THINX also gives back to women around the world. Essentially, every purchase of THINX underwear you make helps to create jobs and learning opportunities for women and children in Uganda.
Not wasting any more money on pads and tampons and making a difference in the world? Yes please!
