‘Tis the Season for Christmas everything: the outdoor lights displays, the Christmas trees adorned with ornaments, Christmas music playing in the background, baking Christmas cookies with the family, and last but not least, Christmas movies. Everyone has that one Christmas movie that they have to watch every year to get into the Christmas spirit; so here are some movies that may be one of your favorites or discover a new one that you will fall in love with.
The Santa Clause (1994)
The Santa Clause is one of those movies that we all love to watch. With two sequels, Tim Allen as Scott Calvin/Santa Claus keeps the laughs coming and makes us wish our dad was Santa Claus himself!
Home Alone (1990-its 25th anniversary!)
Home Alone made us envious of the epic pranks that Macaulay Culkin pulled as the character of Kevin McCallister on the wanna-be burglars. This is a classic that will be loved for the next 25+ years.
A Christmas Story (1983)
Whether it was when little Ralphie’s friend Flick got his tongue stuck to the pole on a triple dog dare or when Ralphie himself shuffled down the stairs in his pink Easter bunny costume that he got from Aunt Clara or to whatever the Parkers got themselves into, we sympathized with Ralphie every time someone told him he couldn’t get that BB gun (even if he did end up “shooting” his eye out).
Elf (2003)
Elf is one of those movies that you can’t get enough of during the Christmas season. Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf makes us wish we were raised in the North Pole where him and the elves had four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Animated: 1966, Live Action: 2000)
This TV short and movie by Dr. Seuss is one that is guaranteed to be played in either version this time of year. The story of how the Grinch learned to love Christmas is one that can turn any heart three sizes bigger in one day.
Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)
Another TV short, this claymation classic is one that I personally remember watching since I was a little kid. (And I will be for sure watching again this year!) You can’t help but root for Rudolph throughout the whole movie and cheer for him when he helps save Christmas.
It’s a Wonderful Life (1964)
Plays every year on NBC, this black and white movie reminds us of a simpler time. James Stewart plays George Bailey, a businessman who wishes he was never born. An angel, who is waiting to hear his own bell ring, is sent to George to show him what life would be like if he never existed for those in his life.
So go ahead and have a Christmas movie marathon with your family and friends and drink peppermint hot cocoa to have the full Christmas effect!
