What is something people don’t know about you?
I don’t know… I’m an open book! I’m pretty sure everyone knows everything about me. Maybe what people don’t know so much is that I like to be low-key sometimes. Like, I like to have my me time where I wrap up in a blanket and just watch movies on Netflix.
What is something you’re watching on Netflix right now?
Right now, Real Husbands of Hollywood. Haha. I just finished everything else, it’s pretty funny. I thought it was just gonna be stupid, but it’s stupid and funny which is pretty good.
What does your day usually look like?
I wake up, turn off my alarm, go back to sleep, wake up, rush to class, and then I normally just go to class, then I eat and I take a nap and go to my next class and then come back and try to study but I usually go out to eat.
What is your favorite thing about Cal State L.A.?
The people! Honestly, the people are the best part here.
What made you decide to pursue a major in biology?
I wanna go to med school and the prerequisites for med school are the same as a lot of my prerequisites for my classes in the biology major, so I found that it was the easiest way to get it done. Rather than being a sociology major, which is what I wanted to do, and then add those prerequisites on the side.
What is your ultimate goal in your career?
I wanna be a medical doctor! If I’m not sick of school by the time I get to that point, then I want to be a cardiovascular surgeon, but that’s if I’m not sick of school.
Oh, like Gray’s Anatomy!
I still haven’t watched that show, everyone says it’s amazing.
I hear you like going to places to eat in L.A. Where is your favorite spot to eat at?
Honestly, I don’t have a favorite place. I wish I could pick one. You know, Alhambra has so many good spots. That’s the perks of not living at home. I could just go out to eat.
If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
I’m blunt, sarcastic, and hungry – literally and metaphorically.
If you were to choose anyone to play you in your life movie, who would it be?
It would be my friend, Eduardo. I feel like he would nail me. Like he would know my part so perfectly.
How long how you and Eduardo been friends?
We’ve been friends for a year! But if you meet him, you’ll know what I mean by him being able to play my part in a movie. He’s ready to flip his braids, it’s so funny.
Since you want to go to medical and you’re working really hard as a student now, do you have any advice for students who are coming to this school who want to pursue a career in the medical field?
Yes, take your chem classes as a freshman. Start it soon, or else it will hold you back. You can also get a sense for who your professors are at day one, but if you’re not feelin’ them, let them go. Try again next quarter. Also, it’s nice to be focused in classes and get good grades, but that’s not all what college is for. It’s about the experience, so also get out – not too much, but get out and have fun!
