This week’s Campus Celeb happens to be my very best friend, roommate, and teammate Mackenzie Griffin. Mackenzie, a senior on the women’s basketball team from Stamford Connecticut is one of the best players the program has ever seen. Between breaking records and leading her team to victories, this celeb is truly amazing both on and off the court, a rare combo to find these days.
In her first three years as a Bantam, she led the team in free throws, was second on the team in blocked shots, and led the bantams to a numerous amount of victories. During her junior year, Griffin stepped up to the plate and started all twenty-four games. She led the team in scoring and rebounding with 16.2 PPG and 8.2 RPG. No team could stop Griffin regardless of what defense they threw at her.
Most recently, Griffin has started her senior season off stronger than ever. In the first tournament at Curry College, Griffin received the tournament MVP. This past weekend, Griffin set a new career high in points and rebounds, was named Bantam of the week, was named MVP of the tournament (again), and was nominated NEWBA player of the week. NEWBA player of the week takes into account all basketball players from the New England Area. There was no one who was more deserving of this title than our very own Kenzie Griffin. She is loved by all and I can personally say she is a pleasure to play with.
Aside from her stellar performance on the court, Griffin is a psychology major and a huge Justin Bieber enthusiast. She enjoys shopping, listening to rap music, getting her nails done, hanging with her sisters, going to LBI and eating at California Pizza Kitchen. Griffin is truly a sweetheart who puts nothing in life above family and friendship. It was hard to decide whether to make her a campus cutie or campus celeb because she surely qualifies for both! With that being said, word on the street is she’s single and any guy would be lucky to talk to this celeb who is beautiful on the inside and out!!!
