Remember when people when crazy for contouring? Or, when they were obsessed with strobing? Well now there’s a new makeup trend and it’s called baking. Originally adopted from drag queens, baking, sometimes referred to as cooking, involves using a beauty sponge to apply a thick layer of translucent powder onto areas of the face that you want to brighten, leaving the powder on for at least five minutes, and then dusting it off with a brush.

To some, baking may seem high maintenance, and, frankly, I don’t disagree.  However, I’ve found that this extra step makes a huge difference in how flawless my face looks. Here are three reasons why I love to bake my face!

1.  My Undereye Concealer Magically Becomes Budge-proof and Crease-Proof

Usually, my undereye concealer is the first to start creasing and wearing off.  This does not happen when I bake! My concealer look perfect all day and I no longer need to carry it around with me for touch ups.

2. My Contour is Quicker and Bolder

I like to bake directly under cheekbones after I contour them. This cleans up my contour and neatens it out. My contour looks strong and my cheekbones instantly look more chiseled.

3. Baking Brightens

Any area that you bake will be bright and highlighted. This makes your face look younger and more refreshed. You will look like you slept for twelve hours and have a natural glow.

Baking is no longer just for cookies, so have fun!
