It’s that time of year again when we should all be feeling thankful and generous. A public relations class taught by professor Regina Bell is feeling extra generous and is hoping URI students will contribute to a thoughtful, charitable event being hosted on campus.
From December 4-11, this class will be holding a coat drive called, “Operation Warm Coat.” The coat collection bins will be positioned in front of the Mackal Field House, Fasciatelli Gym, the Fine Arts Building, and Davis Hall. Students are welcome to stop by and donate a coat to someone less fortunate and in need of a little help staying warm this season.
With the cold and bitter months approaching, it’s important to remember that not everyone is able to afford winter jackets to keep them warm. It is no surprise to all of us at URI that Rhode Island faces pretty brutal winters. That’s exactly why we should all try to find it in our hearts to donate coats this season.
Since the majority of us are home this week for Thanksgiving, pick a day to search through your room. You might find some old coats you probably forgot you had. And, don’t forget to mention it to your mom! You know how moms are always looking to clean out our closets…
This holiday season, let’s give wisely and help make a difference.
