NU Ski Trip is one of the most talked about student events on campus. Starting right after finals and going for a week, students have the opportunity to ski or snowboard for up to five days while enjoying all of the resort’s amenities. To really have a blast and not have to worry about anything during your vacation, here is a list of the things to do to before you hit the slopes!
1. Buy your flight tickets!
Buying flights in advance is absolutely crucial. The earlier the better! The closer it gets to the event, the more expensive. Check out several websites and look around for the best deals.
2. Use the shuttle.
NU Ski trip offers shuttles for several different times going to and from the airport. Use it! They are relatively inexpensive compared with Uber or Taxi prices, so they can save you some cash that you can then use for other fun things on your trip. Make sure to purchase your shuttle tickets ASAP!
3. If you plan on getting rental skis/snowboard, do it through Ski Trip
And do it in advance! There is a great deal on rentals right now and it is significantly cheaper than buying it at the resort.
4. Same goes for lift passes!
Pick four or five days, but think about how much you’ll want to be out on the slopes and coordinate with friends.
5. Talk about housing early.
Because rooms are in 4 or 6, it can be hard to work out the details! Find a group of people and start talking about housing early to get waivers and housing forms in on time.
6. Groceries will be needed.
Yep, you need groceries. Ski Trip offers a great deal on groceries (5% off if before the end of Thanksgiving weekend!) if you want to buy it through them, or get it on your own. Try to get a good mix of healthy meal foods and snacks to bring with you on the slopes, and make sure you buy enough to sustain yourself for the trip! It’s always a good idea to buy a little more than you think you will need. You won’t regret it!
7. Pack smart.
I know you may think you have all the winter clothes you need, but a good pair of wool socks really is essential. Same goes for a pair of snowpants and a good, waterproof ski jacket! Other things you might not think of include: good gloves/mittens, hand/toe warmers, ski goggles and a balaclava or scarf. Looking cute may be your main concern, but getting frostbite on the slopes is not the least bit cute. Stay safe, load up on layers and pack some comfy clothing for lounging around.
