A message from UIC Pyromaniacs:
This basketball season is a new season. Not just because it’s a clean record and another schedule. We have six new Freshmen. A head coach with an agenda to bring out the team’s full potential on the court. And we have a new student organization pushing for a UIC spirit culture, Pyromaniacs.
Every college experience should include a feeling of unity and pride. Our mission is to bring any and all students that want to take part in sporting events. Seeing that the basketball season just started this past Friday on November 13, the student body presence got off to a great start at the Pavilion. We want to keep that up, keep the fire going!
The first game included a free tailgate to UIC students, faculty, and alumni. Activities included inflatable basketball hoops, bag sets, pyrotechique/flame thrower performances, and a photobooth. Free food and drinks were also provided. Tailgate was followed by the season opener for the men’s basketball team. The Pavilion had a rowdy attendance of 4,000!
We want to keep this momentum going for the next game and all games. The game plan is to have future tailgates before the games to have a place for students to hangout and start the atmosphere for the games.
Game day should be a day we look forward to, stand up in the stands and cheer, yell foul language to the refs, and lose our voices the next day!
Let’s make these four years of college the best possible! WE CAN START THE FIRE!
