Finals week is slowly creeping up on us. While we will be bombarded with exams, projects, and papers, it is important to remember to put yourself first. Here are some helpful ways to reduce stress in order to keep you sane.
1. Exercise
This is probably the most recommended tip. If you’re like me, the idea of going for a run probably sickens you. But I find less strenuous activities to relieve stress, such as yoga or a mini dance session.
2. Watch a funny show
Laughter is probably the best stress reliever. Taking a 30 minute break to watch an episode of your favorite comedy series isn’t going to put you too far back and that major relief will probably give you more fuel to keep on studying. Just remember to limit your time.
3. Get enough sleep
Getting enough rest is probably the most looked over essential when someone is in a stressful time. But it is important and can ultimately help you in your study binge. Don’t forget about sleep and remember to give yourself a good night’s rest and even schedule in some naps during the week.
4. Stretch
Stretching can help rejuvenate you and regain your focus. If you find yourself struggling to focus on the task at hand, take a 5 minute break to stretch.
5. Listen to music
I like to listen to music while I study. I find that it helps me focus deeply on what is in front of me. It is a nice distraction and can even be a motivator.
6. Light a candle
Scents can help calm you during stressful times. Light a candle (or turn on your Scentsy!).
7. Eat a snack
Eating, as we all probably know, can help relieve stress. Taking time to feed yourself can help you take some stress off your body as well as give you more energy.
8. Just Breathe
It can be hard to remember the little things. But a quick way to relieve yourself of stress is taking a deep breath. Go ahead, do it! You’ll get through this week.
