You made it – it’s time for Thanksgiving break, which means time to relax, spend time with family and friends, and maybe do a little Black Friday shopping. But you know what else it’s time for? Reading! There’s nothing else I love more than to read for fun after weeks of midterm after midterm. I’ve compiled a list of 5 books to cuddle in with during this Thanksgiving break!

1.         The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

This one’s a retelling about A Thousand and One Nights (where Aladdin originated from!), so what does it have to do with Thanksgiving? Food, of course! Ahdieh has these lush descriptions of not only the fantasy setting, but also the scrumptious meals the characters have. You’ll be drooling even after your Thanksgiving dinner!

2.         My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Although this story is a more summer-y, by-the-poolside read, it’s still a great Thanksgiving read because of the family elements in it that I adore. A romance that blooms with the guy next door who’s the brother of 5+ other siblings? Count me in…

3.         Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

Thanksgiving’s all about being thankful for your life, being grateful for what your parents have done for you, and how they’ve helped you get where you are today. Well, be grateful that you don’t live in a world like Station Eleven’s, where a disease has plagued and wiped out most of the human population. Mandel writes this post-apocalyptic story beautifully and it’s a must read for all collegiettes.

4.         Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

Love Harry Potter and feeling nostalgic over the break? Pick up your next favorite, Carry On. Not only does this one have luscious food descriptions as well (guys, the scones!), but Carry On is basically a fan fiction of Harry Potter! You’ll fall in love with these characters and they’ll feel like family immediately.

5.         A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall

Now that you’ve got a full belly, get ready for a full heart after this read! A Little Something Different is, well, a little something different. Read about a college romance from everyone’s perspective except for the couple’s! (There’s even a perspective from a squirrel. Just saying.) A cute and quick read, you’ll be feeling warm and content throughout the weekend.
