No Shave November is in full swing at AU. From beards to legs, dropping the razor during the chilly month has been a popular movement among men and women alike. While a popular trend, people may not realize that behind this act stems from the need to spark conversation and raise awareness for cancer. No Shave November is a web-based non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds for cancer prevention, research, and education.
According to the organization, “The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.”
HCAU wants to see you welcome your body hair and display it proudly in honor of No Shave November. Post a photo of your growing/grown body or facial hair (i.e. beard, mustache, legs, etc.) on Instagram and include the hashtag #HCAUGoesNatural by Monday, November 23rd. The photo with the most “likes” on Instagram will win a $100 donation to a charity of their choice.
Want to know more about No Shave November and Movember, a similar philanthropic movement focused on raising awareness for men’s health during this month? Join us in the Tavern on Thursday, November 19th anytime from 11 am – 2 pm and show us why you support men’s health. Bring your best beard or body hair and get your photo taken for the #HCAUGoesNatural Instagram contest!
