He doesn’t just have the looks, but he also has the smarts. That is why Greg “The Hawk” Mallory is this week’s cutie!
After being a student at NMSU for seven years, Greg Mallory has gone through his Bachelors degree and this upcoming May, he will finish his Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.

“Working with student engagement, student affairs. I also like doing head sports producer for News22. That’s practically my life.”

“Funny, hardworking and motivated.”
What are some of your interests?
“Sports! Music, ladies, food, food, food, food! And education.”
What is your favorite book?
“To Kill a Mockingbird.”

“Does Sports Center count?”
What are your biggest pet peeves?
“Liars!”
Who is your biggest Celebrity Crush?
“Uff I would have to say Alicia Keys. She has always been my favorite.”
What do you like the most about NMSU?
“I would have to say the scenery with the palm trees and the mountains. You know the weather makes it a beautiful place to be most of the time.”
What is an interesting fact about you?
“I’m like a book nerd, the library gets me excited. I know it’s funny but it’s the truth.”
What do you hope to gain after your Master’s Degree?
“I hope to gain a job where I can impact the lives of many.”
Why did you decide to do a Double Master’s?
“Honestly I think I really decided to do it because education has been a really big part of my life and I really want to make those people back at home really proud of me.”
What has been one of your best memories in your NMSU life?
“The Las Cruces vs. Mayfield game when we covered it with my buddy Steven and we did an amazing package. It was an awesome memory.”
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
“Come back to school. I want to get my PhD. in something dealing with culture in some way. The sad thing about it is that I might need to go to UNM to do it. But I’m still not sure what exactly I’m going to get my PHD on.”
Why did you decide to do News22?
“I decided to do News22 because I was heavily recruited by Dr. Mellen and Dr. Mac and I truly aspire to be like the guys at ESPN. For example, Steward Scott is like my biggest inspiration and I just knew that if I pushed in News22, ESPN can be that ultimate job for me.”
Who is your biggest role model?
“My mom, because she is always there for people no matter what and I honestly feel that if it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t be here. Literally and figuratively she has always told me how proud she is for me. She is my biggest motivations to be able to higher my education.”
What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
“In 5 years I see myself with a tremendous life that has impacted the lives of many individuals. I just see myself working with awesome people that change the views and help higher education.”
What is your advice for incoming freshmen?
“This is a tremendous opportunity to better yourself and it is a tremendous community that is here to support you. There are going to be hard times but your good times will always outnumber your bad ones. Always be prepared for hard work, and fun.”
If you could change one thing in your experience at NMSU what would it be?
“To play in the Aggie football team. I really wanted to do it so bad, but it basically came down to conflicts of politics in the college football team.”
