As the leaves change and temperatures drop, the spookiest holiday sneaks around the corner.Â
The entire month of October is dedicated to pumpkin carving, haunted houses, hayrides and making costumes for the autumn holiday that is known as Halloween.
Wearing nothing other than your flannel, ripped jeans and riding boots with your pumpkin spice latte in hand, you’ll need a perfect spot to show off fall fashion. Â
Whether it’s exploring ghostly graveyards, hackling through haunted houses or simply picking the perfect pumpkin, the areas around Radnor and Philadelphia have plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween.
1. Linvilla Orchards
The first stop on your Halloween crawl should be to pick pumpkins at Linvilla Orchards.  Located in Media, only 20 short minutes away from Cabrini, Linvilla offers many fall festivities for its guests. With activities such as hayrides to the witch’s house, nightly lightings of the jack-o-lanterns and Pumpkinland, Linvilla has something for all ages. Whether you’re taking the kids you babysit for an afternoon out of the house or you want a cute place to take that #fallflawless Instagram selfie, Linvilla is the perfect place to fulfill your autumn cravings. Don’t forget to pick up some apple cider donuts before you leave. We promise you won’t regret it!
2. Eastern State Penitentiary
Have you ever been inside a real prison?  At Eastern State Penitentiary’s Terror Behind the Walls you can experience what a true incarceration is like, Halloween style.  Located in Philadelphia around the Fairmount area, lies the historic jail that housed American gangster Al Capone. Upon parking at the Philadelphia Zoo parking garage, Terror Behind the Walls provides a spooky shuttle service to and from the attraction with flickering lights and scary ghost stories. Â
As you step off the bus and onto the eerie site, zombies and ghouls surprise and scare guests from secret angles.  With a walking tour of six different scenarios, guests are taken through the jail and scared within the theme of the particular room. Trying to break out of their cells, prisoners hawk and follow you to give you a fright.  If you make it out alive, there is a speakeasy in Al Capone’s cell where guests can enjoy handmade cocktails.  This attraction is a must-see for the Halloween season, that is if you’re not too scared!
3. Our very own campus
Finally, our Halloween tour comes to an end in our very own backyard.  For years, rumors and stories have circulated about the mysteries of Cabrini’s cursed past. That’s right, Cabrini College is haunted. Among the stories are library books flying off the shelves, facilities hearing footsteps late at night and things disappearing without notice. Our campus has always been suspicious of ghostly activity. Cabrini’s annual Freak Week sheds light on this well-known fear by hosting a Haunted Mansion event right on campus. Tour through the halls of the historic building and see what lurks behind the ivy-covered walls.
Whether you’re curled up next to the bonfire with your boo carving pumpkins or finding yourself in a haunted corn maze, the Halloween season around Cabrini has plenty of freaky festivities to offer, if you dare to try them!
