As we move forward into October, we find ourselves leaving our shorts and flip flops behind and getting stuck in the perilous and slightly awkward fall weather. Waking up to 50 degree weather and then finding it to be 70 degrees by the time class gets out, or dealing with quick changes from clear skies to rain, presents a constant struggle in deciding what to wear to stay comfortable througout the day. Here are my favorite fall clothes and accessories that help me survive the crazy and unpredictable DC fall weather.
Â
1. Â Âľ length sleeve t-shirts
These shirts are relatively inexpensive and super popular in stores during the fall. With all kinds of pattern and colors, these shirts are a perfect happy medium between short sleeve and long sleeve shirts.
2. Flannels
Flannels are super comfortable and can be worn so many ways. In colder weather, button them up or for warmer times they can be easily wrapped around your waist.
Â
3. Foldable rain coats
Lightweight rain coats that fold into themselves are small enough to take in most backpacks, tote bags and even purses. They are also great as an extra layer, even when it isn’t raining.
4. Maxi skirts
Maxi skirts are super versatile and can be dressed up or down. Solid fabric ones keep your legs covered but are not too warm, which is perfect for mild weather.
5. Capris
While I haven’t had to wear capris (other than those of the athletic variety) since those strict middle school days, these are a now personal favorite. Capris are great for mild weather and can be paired easily with any outfit.

There you have it! Â Maybe the fall weather is survivable after all.Â
