Are you unsure of what you want to do with yourself this Halloween? Would you rather just chill out on campus than go to a party? No problem! There are plenty of things you and your friends can do at Clark on Halloween that donât involve crazy college parties. Get into the Halloween spirit with these five blood tingling ideas.
1. Watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show with CUFS (and participate in the costume contest!)
Every Halloween, the Clark University Film Society hosts a special screening of the cult classic, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Whether youâre a fan of the movie or a âvirginâ, this is one film experience you wonât soon forget. Thereâs popcorn, candy and a costume contest beforehand for Clarkies who come to the movie dressed up. If youâre intrigued, Rocky Horror will be screened in Jefferson 320 on Friday, October 30th around 11:30pm.Â
2. Host a Horror Movie Night
Donât just hole yourself up in your room and binge-watch American Horror Story. Chances are youâre not alone in wanting a laid-back Halloween, so why not invite your whole dorm to watch a scary movie with you? Talk to your RA ahead of time to arrange a horror movie night in one of the common areas of your dorm and then put up fliers around your building (or put it on social media) with the details of your event. Order food, bring drinks and then scroll through Netflix for the perfect scary movie. Donât forget the candy!
3. Bake Your Own Halloween Treats
If you love to bake, or even if you just love dessert, invite your friends over to bake some Halloween treats. If you want to branch out from the traditional cookies or cupcakes, try one of these delicious and easy Halloween-themed recipes below:
4. Have a Costume Contest
You donât need to use a party or taking your sibling trick or treating as an excuse to buy a Halloween costume. If you and your pals plan on wearing costumes on Halloween, why not have some fun with it? Encourage others to take advantage of the Halloween Outlet on West Boylston St. or use whatever is in their closet for a DIY costume. Pick out an area to hold the contest (again, you may want to run the idea by your RA if you live in a dorm), have everyone brings some fun, cheap prizes for the winner (anything from a DVD to a snack from the Bistro would be great) and show off your amazing costume!
5. Host a Beauty Night
It’s a throwback to one of everyoneâs favorite pastimes at sleepovers, but with a twist. You and your friends bring colorful eye shadow, face paint, nail polish, facial masks and any other beauty products you can think of to someoneâs room. Remember, Halloween is the one night of the year where you can look as crazy as possible and itâs totally normal. Get creative with your hair and makeup and paint your nails in festive colors. To really get into the Halloween spirit, put on some music (Thriller, anyone?) and put up some spooky decorations in your room beforehand.
Whatever you choose to do this Halloween, have fun and be safe!
