Alejandro Quintana, 22, left Mexico to pursue better opportunities in education. Quintana is from a small town called Ascension, Chihuahua and came to New Mexico State University to pursue a degree in electronic and computer engineering technology. He is a full-time student and also works as a lab technician on campus.
What is your favorite thing about NMSU?
“The campus scenery. It is more beautiful than any other I’ve seen.”
Why leave Mexico and come to NMSU?
“Where I’m from it’s a dangerous place. It has calmed down throughout the years but it’s still dangerous. I came here for a better education and better job opportunities.”
Dreams and plans after graduation?
“I plan to graduate May of 2017, be happily married with my girlfriend Mayra (of now six years), as well as get a well-paying job and travel.”
Places you wish to travel?
“Seattle, Italy, France and many more.”
Dream employer?
“Any company that provides environmental friendly technologies.”

What do you do for fun?
“I play a lot of video games. I like to spend time with my girlfriend. I enjoy reading and going to the gym.”
