Crafting Ideas: 8 Ways to Use Popsicle Molds

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCD chapter.

With summer over, your popsicle molds are probably retiring to the back of their cabinets before they can be put to use again. Luckily, there are several nifty ways you can use them all year ’round. Check out these easy and delicious craft ideas!

1. Breakfast Parfaits

Layer in some plain Greek yogurt, honey, berries, and your favorite granola and you’ve got yourself some breakfast to go! These also make a nice frozen treat after a long workout!

2. Fruit Refreshers

Slice up some of your favorite fruits and add a splash of coconut water for a mid-afternoon jolt of natural energy.

3. Popsicle Soaps

Need a cute party favor? Try using some fun soaps that look like popsicles. Just follow this tutorial’s easy instructions:

4. Makeshift Planter Box

You’ve seen it done in egg cartons, so why not popsicle molds? Popsicle molds make a great holding place for those new sprouts!

5. Bakery Storage

For the hardcore baker in your life, popsicle molds make great frosting holders. If you’re feeling ambitious and want to try your hand at macarons, the molds will make sure your precious batter doesn’t leave a drippy mess.

6. Jell-O Pops

Sick of plain old Jell-O squares?  Use your popsicle molds to make bite-size Jell-O pops that aren’t too sticky and don’t require a spoon!

7. Dipping Station

Making chocolate-dipped or candy-melt treats?  Popsicle molds give you multiple colors to choose from. Melt some cheese and you’re onto some nice fondue.

8. Boozy Popsicles

Put a spin on your typical vodka gummy bears to avoid a slimy mess!  In fact, turn any cocktail you like into a frozen pop. No need to get ice for the party!

In my free time, I enjoy long talks and study sessions in hole-in-wall coffee shops, hiking scenic trails, finding foodie hubs, DIY projects, reading, blogging every so often, and trying to stay fit. On my campus, I am involved in the Professional Sorority and Fraternity Council for Phi Alpha Delta, am a notetaker for the Student Disability Center, and run the publicity campaign for Relay for Life. Writing is one of my passions because it is one of the best ways I have found to connect with others and gives me the ability to create something completely original.
