9 Life Lessons We All Learned From Disney

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Winthrop chapter.

We all grew up on it. We had stacks of VCR tapes and made our parents get the DVD versions once they came out. Yep, I’m talking about those magical, capturing tales with the songs we still know by heart, and the movies we play for the kids we babysit for.

To put it simply, Disney movies are the best, and you can’t deny it — we all have a favorite! But even more than the catchy songs, these movies have given us some pretty good life advice, even though we might not have realized it at the time. So, here are some of the greatest quotes that we may have once been too young to appreciate, but now we do.

The Lion King taught us to not let our mistakes define us, and that it’s what we do after we fall that is more important.

The Incredibles taught us to never live in the past, because our futures are spotless.

Dumbo taught us that it is our differences that set us apart and make us great. We all have the power inside of us to succeed, we just have to find it.

Never underestimate a girl, or get on her bad side, or say something to make her upset. Ever.

No matter how old we get, or how many grown up like things we have to do, there’s always a small part inside of us that gets just as excited on snow days at age 20 as we did at age 5.

When you’re between a rock and a hard place, you’ll find strength in yourself strong enough to continue, that you never knew was there.

All the important things we do in life are what we do for others.

The Little Mermaid taught us that we have to be free to make our own mistakes, and its only through trial and error that we can grow stronger.

Acceptance looks good on everyone. It doesn’t matter where we’re from, what we look like, or how we dress, because in the end we’re all equal and the best versions of ourselves that we can be.

No matter the age, Disney is classic…so, who says we have to grow up?
