You know that coincidence when you meet someone with the same name as you? Multiply that feeling by about a thousand and you can begin to imagine the strangeness of meeting another set of twins with the same name as you and your twin, who also attend the same college. Never before seen in the same room together, Ryan and Connor Green and Ryan and Connor Powers are both sets of freshman twins, with a lot more than a last name making them unique. HCND was lucky enough to score an interview with these four Campus Cuties.
Candid photo of the twins exchanging Instagram names, a sign of true friendship.

On Being a Twin
Is twin ESP a real thing?
CP: Absolutely not.
CG: As far as you’re concerned, yes.
If so, what’s the strangest thing that has ever happened concerning it?
RG: Connor and I both made custom vibrations on our phones and 2 months later I heard what I thought was my phone go off and it turns out Connor had gotten a text. Without ever talking about it we had made the same custom vibration pattern.
CG: It was a co-twincidence
How much did your twin getting into Notre Dame factor into your decision to go here?
RP: I got in early so zero
RG: About 10 percent maybe
Who’s older?
CG: I am
RP: Me
Describe your twin in a movie title:
CP: Good Will Hunting. Great movie
CG: I Love You, Man *cue the awws*
CP: Dumb and Dumber.
RG: Dear John…you’re an emotional guy, Connor.
What’s your favorite thing about having a twin?
RG: Neverending sleepover.
RP: Built-in friend.
CP: It’s a great conversation starter, actually.
CG: Yeah, you think meeting people at Domerfest is easy? Our life is like Domerfest.
RG: Yeah, but I also feel like I have to apologize if someone thinks I’m you. They’ll say “Hey Connor” with such confidence that I don’t have the heart to tell them it’s me.
Least favorite part about having a twin?
RG: If you get mad at each other there’s nowhere to go.
RP: Yeah, especially because we shared a room.
RG: Oh wow *all 4 exchange fistbumps* you guys are stronger than us. That’s impressive.
CG: Being the shorter twin blows because that’s the first thing everyone notices.
What is something that you guys do together?
RP: We like to ride tandem bikes.
RG: No way, that’s what Connor and I want to do when we move off campus!
Do you have any weird similarities?
RG: Music taste, probably.
CP: We have the same weird sense of humor.
CG: Chubbies–people do not expect the chubbies.
*Note: both Green twins were wearing chubbies during the interview*
RP: Even though we’re not identical, we do all the same things and have mostly the same friends.
Do people ask if you’re identical?
RG: Yeah, all the time, or they just assume. We used to look a lot more alike than we do now. Our mom had to write who was who on the back of photos to tell us apart.
CP: No.
People have suggested you the four of you become best friends and taking over the world together. What’s your opinion on that?
CP: It’s on the to-do list.
RG: Yeah we could divvy it up like some in hemispheres and North, South, East and West…but what is there in the North except research centers?
*here a 6 minute discussion over how to divide said conquered world took place*
CG: But this is assuming we take over the world.
RP: Details.
CP: So, yes is the answer.
On Notre Dame
Best Notre Dame memory so far?
CG: Cigar pics.
RP: The Quint.
Did anyone have a moment when you knew that Notre Dame was your home?
RG: I think Matt texted me asking when I was coming back to Keough and instead of saying “I’m coming back to Keough at 6,” I said I was coming home at 6. That was the moment.
Best dining hall?
Everyone except Connor Green: South
CG: North. I have to rep North. I do like South but I have to put up that dirty N.
*All 4 boys spent 5 minutes trying to make an N with their hands*
Favorite spot on campus?
CG: In front of the dome after 2:30am. The time definitely makes a difference.
RP: I guess God Quad even though it’s kind of basic.
CP: For me right on main circle where I walk by everyday and look left and see the Dome.
RG: The grotto.
Number one item on ND bucket list?
RP: Gotta get the ring by Spring.
CG: Hesburgh challenge maybe. And become friends with a priest.
CP: The Holy Half marathon.
RG: Sit in the front row of the stadium for a game.
RaNDom
Spirit animals?
RG: Monkey–Connor you would probably be some sort of dog, maybe a golden retriever or a husky? No, definitely a lab.
RP: A German Shepard, I think.
CP: A dolphin.
If you could have a superpower what would it be?
CG: Teleportation–that’s so clichĂ© in every way. Hawaii for the day, New York for the day, might as well go to Greece. Why would you fly? I can get there faster.
*everyone else nods in agreement*
CG: And if you really wanted to fly you could teleport into the air and fall for a few seconds then teleport back up.
Best song in the history of the world?
CG: “Jordan Belford”–just kidding
RG: “I Can’t Help Myself” by The Four Tops…or “Mambo #5”
CP: “Mr. Brightside”–I want to go into class one day and play the intro on guitar.
RP: “Only the Good Die Young” by Billy Joel Â
Moment you were most proud of your brother?
CG: There was one time during a mock trial, which we did in high school, where Ryan just absolutely killed it and he had the restraint to push the witness no farther than needed.
CP: Junior year Ryan finished first in the class…he walked up to get his award and I was like that’s my brother.
RG: Senior year, another mock trial story. We walked in and there was a pretty girl who we had never seen before at mock trial practice. First day I look at Connor and I go, “You’re gonna hit on her.” They ended up dating for 6 months.
RP: When he pulled his acceptance letter to Notre Dame out of the mailbox. I just knew we were going to both end up here.
Some Highlights of the Interview:
“Connor reads a lot of blogs”-RG, while arguing over whether pink flowers worked in a white and blue room
“I had a ten minute conversation with [Ryan’s] RA the other day about my homework and he thought I was you the whole time…”-CG
“I’m pro mid-calf for the squeezed toothpaste effect”-RP, on midcalf socks
“The best calf description I’ve ever heard is ‘that calf looks like a koala bear climbing a tree’ ”-CG, on muscular calves
“Maybe pancakes are really just poorly made crepes”-CG
Also worth noting: A long argument over whether it is socially acceptable to like your own insta pics, and an even longer discussion on the correct pronunciation of bagel, milk and crayon happened. In addition, both Ryans’ favorite color is blue and the Connors like green.
Clearly the Ryans and the Connors are each pretty cool guys, and I can say from personal experience that they are definitely worth meeting. Thanks for the interview Ryan, Connor, Ryan, and Connor, and remember all of us back home at Notre Dame when the four of you take over the world!
