October is THE month for concerts in Tallahassee. What better way to welcome fall than by jamming out to some great live music? Several musical groups will be touring in our college town. Personally, I’ll be looking forward to Walk the Moon, JR JR and Crocodiles this month. Don’t miss your chance to do the Tomahawk chop at these amazing concerts this month!
1. Walk the Moon with Holychild

Walk the Moon have only gotten wilder and louder since their formation in 2010, with their 2011 song of the summer “Anna Sun” and their more recent hit “Shut Up and Dance”. They profess optimism and loving one another at every one of their energetic shows. And they get even the most reluctant dancers on their feet with their ‘80s and ‘90s inspired sound. “When the people get to dancing, they forget about taking sides,” lead singer Nick Petricca sings in their song “Different Colors”. Walk the Moon will also be featuring Los Angeles’ electropop duo Holychild.
2. JR JR with Brothertiger

JR JR is an American indie-pop duo from Michigan. Daniel Zott and Joshua Epstein started recording in Zott’s basement in late 2009 and have watched their fan base grow steadily since. With songs like “If You Didn’t See Me [Then You Weren’t On The Dance Floor]” and “Listening to Outkast, June 23, 2014”, they weave indie, pop and electronic elements in a fresh, new way. Despite having Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s blessing, the duo recently changed their name from “Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.”, due to drawing confused racecar fans out to their shows. Dale Earnhardt Jr. wrote to the duo on Twitter “Hate it had to end fellas. Always enjoy the random conversation to explain me and you. Best of luck in all you do.” JR JR will be featuring chillwave and nostalgia-inspiring act Brothertiger from Toledo.
3. V89 Birthday Bash with Crocodiles, Ex-Breathers (Record Release Show!), Woozy and Dark Tunnels

It’s WVFS Tallahassee’s birthday, and everyone is invited. Los Angeles group Crocodiles play sunny, feedback-layered indie pop. Members Brandon Welchez and Charles Rowell got together after the breakup of their former punk bands and released their single “Neon Jesus”, which gained them exposure when it was included in No Age’s list of 2008’s best songs. With a sound similar to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Wavves, Crocodiles is sure to put on a great show. V89 is also sharing their birthday with a record release show for local hardcore-punk band Ex-Breathers. Crocodiles and Ex-Breathers will be featuring the three-piece experimental rock group Woozy and New York’s Dark Tunnels.
