Hometown: Huntington Beach, CAYear: SeniorRelationship Status: SingleMajor: Physiology Dear women of UW, meet Ryan Nelson. Ryan is the oldest of 4 boys in the Nelson family who are all just as beautiful and cinnamony as he is. If you’ve ever graced the halls of the health sciences building, you’ve probably seen him, and quite possibly swooned. Ryan is not only studying physiology with plans to attend medical school, but he is also the captain of the men’s swim team this year. (I mean hello, does a better combination exist? And did we mention, he surfs too!) Her Campus: Tell us more about why you want to become a doctor and if you are interested in any specific field of medicine?RN: “I just think medicine is really interesting. I just really want to help people and I’m interested in working in an E.R. Maybe like Ariel because, mermaids are cool.”HC: What do you miss the most about living in California?RN: “Definitely the weather and being able to go to the beach.”HC: What is your spirit animal? RN: “ I really like sharks, but people have told me I’m probably a black bear… I don’t know.” HC: If you were stranded on an island and you could only have 3 things with you, what would they be?RN: “ I would probably bring some coffee, because I need coffee. My surfboard so I could go play in the waves, and maybe some fudge because I can’t resist fudge.”HC: What is your favorite type of music to listen to, and what is your current favorite song?RN: “I kind of like alternative, like Empire of the Sun that kind of stuff and I really like singer songwriter musicians, like Jack Johnson type music. I also love Ellie Goudling, she has a new album coming out, so anything of hers.”
