Name: Stephanie Schmeltzer
Hometown: Mahopac, New York an hour from NYC
Year: Senior
Major: Nutritional sciences with minor in Health Management
What type of new organizations are you apart of this year?
I studied abroad in Florence, Italy Spring semester of my junior year and when I came back, I knew I wanted to do so many things this fall. After my awesome experience studying abroad, I decided to be a Global Ambassador which helps perspective study abroad students. I tell them about the experience and help organize their trips!
What other groups are you involved with on campus?
I am a brother of Alpha Phi Omega which is a co-ed community service fraternity here at UNH. We help with different events here on campus and in the community like Dover.
Do you have a job on top of all this?
I actually have an internship at Health Services. Right now I am helping to organize an event called “Fresh Check Day” which was scheduled by my friend Ryan Walsh. This is the first time they’re coming to UNH! It helps promote mental health in our community and prevent young adult suicide. I am in charge of coordinating food and entertainment for the event! I’m also looking forward to my internship with the Institute for Health Practice and Policy in Hewitt Hall. I’ll be in charge of social media and that type of stuff.
We heard you used to be an RA too! What dorm were you in as a Resident Assistant? What was your favorite part?
I worked in Christensen Hall. X-Sen!!! My favorite part was getting to know all the residents and the girls on my floor and knowing I made a positive impact on their freshman year.
What do you do in your free time?
Sit outside on T Hall lawn & hanging out with friends.
Do you have any fun facts about yourself?
I can belly dance & I’m trying to gear up to run a half marathon! I usually run with the UNH half marathon club on Tuesdays Saturdays and Sundays. I really want to run the Portsmouth half marathon!
