Back to School: Freshman vs. Sophomore year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Heading off to college as a freshman was a very exciting, and nervewracking, time.

However, coming back as a sophomore is a totally different experience…

1. Packing

Freshman: Color coordinate with your roommate before buying all new room stuff and school supplies during one big haul in June. Have everything packed and ready to go weeks before move-in.

Sophomore: Haphazardly through everything you own into boxes at midnight the day before and pray that you didn’t forget anything.

2. Move-in day

Freshman: Wake up early so that you get to school as soon as you possibly can. Pack the car with all of your boxes and your entire family. Spend hours setting up your room before saying a tearful goodbye to your loved ones.

Sophomore: Beg your dad until he agrees help you move. Show up to campus hours after all of the freshman are moved in.

3.Friends

Freshman: Panic over the possibility of never making friends.

Sophomore: Can’t wait to finally see all of your friends from last year!

4. First Day of Classes

Freshman: Show up to class 30 minutes early super prepared with a laptop, 10 pencils, notebooks, binders and folders.

Sophomore: Sit down in your first class and realize just  how not ready you are to do this every day again.
