6 Ways to Hold On to Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at American chapter.

We’re back to school but the nice temperatures are hanging around for a couple of weeks. Take time to enjoy the weather, be outside and socialize before midterms and pumpkin spice lattes come in full force to campus. Here are some things you can do to enjoy the rest of September before everything turns new again in fall.

1. It is still shorts weather! Thankfully the muggy, hot, 90 degree weather is gone, but the beautiful mid 70’s are here to stay! At least until October, probably. It is not sweater weather quite yet— you could even still tan on the Quad. So you can still rock your colorful summer wardrobe.

2. The work load hasn’t peaked yet! Even though syllabus week is over, there isn’t too much to stress about just yet. In your downtime, maybe you can pretend it is still mid-July? Go ahead lie on the “beach” (in front of Anderson that is).

3. You can still do summer activities before the chilly air hits. For example, hit the Potomac for some kayaking or stand up paddle boarding. Spray that coconut-scented sunscreen, get that s’mores milkshake to reminisce about summer bonfires with friends and choose the outdoor seating for your Sunday brunch. Perhaps have a BBQ with your friends one last time? If you’re looking for a grill, you can find some near Fletcher Gate.

4. Finish up your summer shows that you missed. If you missed Bachelor in Paradise, catch up before the next Bachelor season comes! You could also watch some summer blockbusters you didn’t get around to seeing.

5. You can keep your summer beauty routine or favorite summer products. For example, if you wore a certain perfume— continue to wear that so it reminds you of the warm summer nights. You can even continue with your same makeup routine until you want to rock a darker fall lip color!

6. Make a playlist of your fave summer tunes! Pick ones that you have good memories of so that when you play it you just think of your summer trips and hangouts. What were the tunes you were blasting out of your car windows this summer?
