In college, it’s easy to fall into the habit of going out to eat on a daily basis or to live almost exclusively on ramen. It doesn’t have to be that way! Buying some key groceries can feed you for days, allow for a variety of meals and cost a lot less than all of your regular fast food meals. It is going to cost more than your ramen, but your body will thank you in the end. One of the most versatile products you can pick up is Bisquick cooking mix. (Yes, you could also get flour, but then you usually have to buy a bunch of other stuff that Bisquick already has covered for you.) You can make a lot more than just pancakes and waffles with this stuff; here is one of my favorite options!
Easy Cheesy Biscuits

Start by pre-heating you oven to 400 degrees. Next, gather all of the ingredients and kitchen tools you will need.
Ingredients for biscuits:
2 1/2 cups Bisquick
4 tablespoons margarine (or butter)
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
3/4 cup cold milk
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Ingredients for topping:
2 tablespoons melted margarine (or butter)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon parsley

Kitchen tools:
Mixing bowl
Measuring cups and spoons
Pastry cutter (or just a knife if you don’t have one)
Whisk (or a spoon)
Cookie sheet (ungreased!)

Combine Bisquick with cold margarine in a mixing bowl using a pastry cutter (or a knife if you’re like me and don’t have one). Leave small chunks of margarine about the size of peas. Next, add the milk, cheddar and garlic powder. Mix that all together by hand until all of the ingredients have been combined into a dough.
Drop approximately 1/4 cup portions of the dough on your ungreased cookie sheet (you should end up with about 9 biscuits). Pop those puppies in the oven and set the timer for 15 minutes.
While you wait for those to bake, make the buttery topping. Just combine all of the ingredients in the second list. When your biscuits are done, brush (or spoon) some of this onto each biscuit. Last, take a picture to make all of your friends jealous. Enjoy!Â
