2020 (Celeb) Candidates

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

“I don’t know what I finna lose after this. It don’t matter, though; It’s not about me. It’s about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth,” West said. “And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

Whether or not Kanye West was serious about his future candidacy for president, this speech has been swarming the media since the MTV Video Music Awards aired on August 30.  We wouldn’t doubt that Kim K is already preparing her wardrobe as first lady – oh wouldn’t that be something we never expected.

Considering this declaration amused many, we wanted to have a little fun with it. Here at Her Campus Ohio State, we thought it’d be more than appropriate to choose a couple of our favorite celebs to run against Mr. West in 2020.

Beyonce Knowles:

Campaign Slogan: It’s Time a Woman Runs the World

Quote: “We need to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves. We have to step up as women and take the lead.”

VP: Emma Watson

Okay can you say #feminism? Queen B would have every girl on her side.  We’d be doing the Single Ladies dance as we walk to the voting ballot.  She could seriously sing in her speeches and have the whole nation in awe.  How could you not want that “Flawless” face representing our country?

Justin Bieber:

Campaign Slogan: Where Are You Now, Voters?

Quote: “I’m telling you, people. Everyday we wake up is another blessing. Follow your dreams and don’t let anyone stop you.”

VP: Kendall Jenner

There’s nothing like a young, fresh face taking the ballot.  Besides, it’s always a plus when our president looks good (really good) in a suit. We’ve gone from adoring JB to hating to love him.  I mean, “Never Say Never” friends.

Jennifer Lawrence:

Campaign Slogan: I Volunteer!

Quote: “If something seems difficult or impossible, it interests me.”

VP: Bradley Cooper

Her awkwardness and natural look is too cute to look past. Her honesty and down to earth personality is what this country needs. She won the Hunger Games for goodness sake, what more is there to say?

So Kanye, Beyonce, JB, and JLaw.  Who will you vote for readers?
