Name: Mason William MorrisÂ
Age: 20Â
Appalachian State is truly grateful for the one and only Mason Morris. It’s hard for Mason to walk around campus and not see someone he knows. Mason is a middle grade education major with a concentration in math and science. When asked why he wanted to be a middle school teacher, he responded, “because middle school is such an important time in a student’s life that it can either make or break them. It is important to get a good experience in middle school so they can excel in high school.”
When Mason is not spending all of his time in the College of Education, he is a part of the App State Cheerleading team. “Game days at the Rock are the best,” he said. Mason makes sure he can attend every football game at The Rock. If you don’t see him on the field cheering on the Mountaineers, you can usually find him in the first row of the student section.
Mason says that his favorite thing about ASU is the friendly atmosphere, and the fact that the majority of activities are outdoors. In the little free time that he gets, he likes to hike, kayak, camp, and play racket ball at the Quinn Recreation Center.
When the winter months roll around, Mason is a ski instructor at Appalachian Ski Mountain. Mason teaches all ages how to ski. “It takes a lot of patience, but it’s dedication to your work,” said Mason.
I had the chance to talk to a couple of Mason’s friends about who Mason is.
Bayleigh Hess, who has been friends with Mason for five years says, “He is like my best friend, he is great! Every time I call him he answers. He’s a good friend to talk to and he is funny too, so that’s a plus!”
Now you may be wondering why Mason is the best to bring home to mom. Mason explained to me that family means a lot in his life. “I hope to have my own family one day and I want to be really involved in my children’s life. I think that being an education major will allow me to do this.”

One last question you may have in mind, is Mason single? Yes, he is! So next time you see this cutie around campus, make sure to say hey!Â
