5 Things To Do In Ithaca While the Weather Is Still Bearable

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ithaca chapter.

1.  Go swimming at the gorges

Swimming in the gorges has got to be a favorite pastime of IC students! However, it can get very dangerous so stick to jumping off of the smaller cliffs or the rope swing at Second Dam and be aware of the marks indicating how far out you need to jump!

2. Take advantage of the Farmer’s Market

Although it is located directly next to the sanitation plant, not even that can mask the beauty of this place! It is right on the water and has live music, gorgeous flowers, locally grown produce and just about any kind of food you can imagine.

3. Take a hike-literally!

The photo below is of Buttermilk Falls and has to be one of my favorite places in Ithaca. You can actually hike around the entire gorge using stairs and paths through the woods. A great way to get a workout while enjoying the natural beauty that Ithaca has to offer.

4. Go running on the South Hill Recreational Trail

The hills in Ithaca can be a pain in the butt (literally) to run, but luckily we have the lovely South Hill Recreational trail! It spans for many miles through the woods and is a great place to clear your mind.

5. Watch the sunset at East Shore Park

You cannot beat the views from East Shore Park. This little hidden gem is the best place in Ithaca (according to me). Go with your friends or go by yourself to relax, either way you are going to love this place.

Hi! I'm currently a sophomore journalism major, sports psychology minor at the gorges Ithaca College. In addition to Her Campus, I'm also a member of the Model United Nations team, the club soccer team as well as a writer for Buzzsaw Magazine and The Ithacan weekly newspaper. I'm originally from Plattsburgh, NY (basically Canada) and I love winter. I have two dogs named Chloe & Cooper who think that they're humans. And I am a chocoholic.
